    • Frederic Beigbeder

It's funny that people ask me such questions as if I knew anything about love. I wrote a novel about myself and about my divorce, but it doesn't make me a good adviser for couples. It's true that long time ago the problem was people got married without love and now the problem is that people are getting married for love. Both are very difficult. So I suggest not to get married at all.

  • Întrebarea nr. 2 Gheorghe

    1. Ce a schimbat criza in atitudinea publicitarilor fata de consum?

    • Frederic Beigbeder

In my book called "99 francs", translated in Romanian as "13.90 lei", I said that advertising gives people who don't have money needs that they cannot satisfy. So that's the reason why poor people are attacking shops and stores, to have the products they cannot buy. The riots in London do not surprise me. What surprises me is that it didn't happen sooner. In fact, in the Ecstasy stories, translated in Romanian as "Nuvele sub ecstasy", I imagine a riot like that in Paris. In the end of that story I finish locked in the toilets of Cafe de Flore. And the last sentence of the story is "I don't think I will be able to be their friend". Maybe that's a good answer for both your questions.

  • Întrebarea nr. 3 Ciprian

    • Frederic Beigbeder

      1. I think fidelity is not a human concept. It was invented by religion and by men to control the birth of babies. Because the men wanted to be sure the babies would be theirs. That's why they created fidelity. Since we have DNA tests now, we don't need fidelity anymore. And also we have the possibility to lie, which I think is very important, it's the secret of long lasting relationships.
      2. Yes, I think it's possible. Everything is possible. Mankind is a very reach species. I think everyone is free to love many people. It's possible that it won't make you happy, because you will be very tired. There is one example: Hugh Hefner. He has many wives, lives in a mansion with many different women. Do you think Hugh Hefner is a happy man, a role model for young generations?

    • Frederic Beigbeder

If your sexual attraction last three years, then you are very lucky.

  • Întrebarea nr. 5 Costi

daca in '99 francs' Octave este satul de lumea publicitatii, de felul in care merg lucrurile in "corporatie", de ipocrizia angajatilor acestor societati apai cum vede dl. Beigbeder locul de munca perfect intr-o companie de AD in societatea capitalista?

    • Frederic Beigbeder

Personally, when I was working in advertising, I hated it. I hated it because I wanted to be an artist. I wanted to be free. So I got fired and now I am free, which is painful because I am responsible for everything I do. I don't know if my solution is good for everyone else. But if you ask me for advice, I'd say leave this business as soon as you can.

  • Întrebarea nr. 6 Dragomir

Cat de mult a durat iubirea dvs de televiziune si publicitate, daca ati simtit vreo iubire fata de ele, si cum a disparut?
    Multumesc

    • Frederic Beigbeder

About advertising, I think I said everything in my book, the answer takes 200 pages maybe. Television is different. It can be useful. 99% of it is shit, but you can use this language for artistic purposes. I am hosting a TV show in France, about films and books. It's a show where I listen to intelligent people talking and I don't think it's oppressing the masses.

    • Frederic Beigbeder

For the first two questions I've already answered above.

      3. Answering your question, maybe.

    Multumesc

    • Frederic Beigbeder

Witness is a good word, I think. I just look at the world and try to make fun of it. If this crisis shows anything it's that I'm always right when I say that this world is governed by a bunch of idiots.

  • Întrebarea nr. 11 roy

Cat credeti ca va mai exista institutia casatoriei, in actuala forma, traditional-religioasa, in societatile occidentale? Traim ultimele clipe ale familiei in sensul crestin?

Ar trebui redefinita dragostea, in sensul renuntarii la conotatia romantica, prin readucerea atractiei pur fizice in prim plan?

    • Frederic Beigbeder

I've never said that love does not exist. The problem is to reconcile love and freedom. So it would be very sad if family disappeared. It's important that freedom does not kill the couple, but I am realistic. You could say our modern way of life makes monogamy very, very difficult. And in the same time you could say that freedom does not make us happy. I suggest you read Freedom by Jonathan Franzen - it's about desperate housewives :)

  • Întrebarea nr. 12 Albert

    Publicitatea a murit?
Daca inca nu a murit, va muri intr-o zi?
    Cu ce e inlocuibila publicitatea?

    merci

    • Frederic Beigbeder

No, it's never going to die if we stay in the capitalist system. I'm not an essayist in advertising, I'm a novelist. Your question is too difficult for me.
