Centrul pentru Jurnalism Independent anunta seminarul DEADLINE TODAY, NEWS TOMORROW, care se va desfasura pe 9 si 22 noiembrie a.c., intre orele 16.00 - 19.00, la sediul CJI si va fi sustinut de Larry GERBER, Knight Fellow cu o bogata experienta de presa.

Seminarul este destinat jurnalistilor din presa scrisa, din agentiile de presa sau celor care lucreaza pentru publicatii online, precum si studentilor de la facultatile de jurnalism, avand foarte bune cunostinte de limba engleza. (Seminarul se va desfasura in limba engleza.)

Larry Gerber's Bio

Larry Gerber, 59, last worked in Romania as the Associated Press bureau chief for central and eastern Europe during the 1980s.

He was also AP bureau chief for Scandinavia, assistant chief of bureau for news in Los Angeles, editor on the wire service's World Desk in New York and a reporter based in Bonn, Germany. He has more than 35 years of reporting, editing and managing experience with AP and other organizations.

From 1999 until 2004, Gerber was editor in chief of Emmy, the prize-winning magazine of the U.S. Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles.

He has served as a consultant in Afghanistan, where he trained and edited the work of journalists with the Institute for War & Peace Reporting, and in Armenia and Macedonia, where he worked with news agencies on behalf of the International Research and Exchanges Board.

He was also the first news director of KVMT, the first radio station in Vail, Colorado, and was a founding editor of Vail magazine.

Gerber grew up in the southwestern United States, moving with his family to West Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. He has a Bachelor's degree in English and History from East Central Oklahoma University and continues to study history and linguistics.

He began his career as a sports reporter and has since worked in virtually all areas of news coverage, from natural disasters to politics. His reporting has appeared on most of the world's major broadcast and print outlets.

He, his wife Barbara and their daughter Lisa have lived in Los Angeles since 1989.
