Romanian academic staff country-wide will cease working for one day, on April 22, and threaten to begin a general strike. The Education sector unions took this decision on Thursday, March 18. Plus, as a sign of protest against the unique income scheme, teachers have decided to stop writing in the official records the students' grades, Romanian TV channel Antena 3 informs.
Academic courses will also be left aside on March 25 in all schools, even if teachers will go to work, Mediafax informs. Spiru Haret Federation president Marius Nistor announced on Thursday that teachers are going to organise a rally and protest in front of the Government and the Labour Ministry.
On April 14, the executive offices of the three important education sector union federations will meet to debate the new Education Law.
