Antonino Spadaccino was pronounced the winner of the Romanian musical competition the Golden Stag 2009 on Sunday. The Italian participated in the contest singing Un ultimo brivido and Septembrie, luni. The Silver Stag went to The Maker band (Romania) and the Bronze stag was awarded to Ovidiu Jacobsen, a Norwegian of Romanian origin. Guitarist Steve Vai received the Excellency Award for Career.

  • Romanian singer Dida Dragan handed the Award for Excellency to Steve Vai.
  • The Popularity Award - or the public's choice - 3,000 euros, was received by Ovidiu Jacobsen (Norway), who sang Saying Goodnight and Dealul cu dor. This is the second time he takes part in the Golden Stag. He also represented Norway in the 2005 edition. In 1998 he worked with renowned Danish producer Morten Stjernholm, coming up with the best sold album in Greenland, Nanu disco.
  • The Jury's Special Award (3,000 euros) went to Malta's representative, Glen Vella. He sang All I am and Andrii Popa. He took part in numerous TV shows and often lends his voice to commercials and jungles. He worked with Eleanor, who won the Golden Stag in 2004.
  • The Bronze Stag (5,000 euros): Ovidiu Jacobsen (Norway), who also won the Popularity Award.
  • The Silver Stag (7,000 euros): The Marker (Romania). The band performed with Yah Weh and If You Didn't Love Me. The band was formed in 2008 and has four members. They also won The Battle of the Bands in October, 2008.
  • The Golden Stag (10,000) went to Antonino Spadaccino (Italy), who interpreted Un ultimo brivido and Septembrie, luni. In 2005, he won Amicii and also received the Golden record for his first single, Ce la faro. He launched his debut album in 2006 and won the Lucio Battisti Award for the best singer. He launched his second album last year.
