The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will pronounce in Spring 2009, the latest, a verdict in the case of Romania vs. Ukraine file referring to the property rights over the continental plateau of the Black Sea, the Romanian agent at ICJ declared in an interview for RFI Romania.

"We expect a decision. calculating the moment when the procedures were opened, at the beginning of the spring or even earlier. The most important fact is that decision will be final, obligatory and with an executive title", said Bogdan Aurescu, the Romanian agent at ICJ.

The Romanian official doesn't believe that Ukraine may refuse to apply the decision: "Both the Romanian and the Ukrainian president declared in several occasions that the two states ill respect the ICJ decision".

In case one of the parties involved doesn't execute the decision, there is an article in the UN Charta that allows the other party to address the UN Security Council.

The stakes in the conflict are the oil and gas resources on a 12,000 square kilometers area, considered in size as average deposits.
