1.Romania goes in team final competition Romania's national Gymnastic team qualified in the gymnastic European Championship final team competition in Birmingham, Great Britain, raising 166,800 points. Its eternal rival, namely Russia, got the best score (168.325 points), while the host country ranked third. The Thursday results of the Romanian team allow the girls to compete in all four finals. 
2.Indian Wells/ Today's agenda: three Romanians scheduled for the first day of competition Four Romanians obtained a position on the Indian Wells (California) main panel. Three of them are competing from day one, namely today. Sorana Cirstea is the Romanian female player with the best position in the world top so far. She will try to overcome the fact she was not in good shape during the last weeks, when she suffered five consecutive defeats.
3.Sorana Cirstea loses first match against Spain Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea lost Romania's first match at Hopman Cup against Spain (Group A), a tournament taking place in Australia. Cirstea lost two sets against Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, score 4-6, 3-6. Romania needs Hanescu's victory against Robredo to even the Spanish and preserve the chances to get to the final.
4.Trophee Andros/ Ex- Formula 1 pilot Alain Prost: "Dacia is a winning project" Alain Prost seemed to be very pleased by his partnership with Dacia, tree days ahead of the start of the snow competition Trophee Andros. The four times Formula 1 winner and also Trophee Andros winner in 2007 and 2008, Prost is full faith.
5.Romania defeated Denmark in the first World Cup 2009 match Romania’s national women's handball team won against Denmark in the first 2009 World Cup match. Radu Voina's students obtained the first Group A victory in Aarhus, defeating the competition’s host, score 28 to 22. 
6.Europa League Four Romanian teams hunting for points in Europe Four Romanian teams play for the first time in the Europa League. If Steaua seems to have an easy match ahead against the Moldavian neighbours, FC Timisoara foresees a most difficult match. The team from Banat (West Romanian region) play against Ajax Amsterdam on foreign grass. Dinamo Bucharest will face Austrian Sturm Graz and CFR Cluj plays home against FC Copenhagen.
7.Under 21/ Sandoi’s national tops Group I  The Under 21 Romanian team managed to tick its fourth victory in the 2011 European Championship preliminaries, the 2009-2010 edition. Emil Sandoi trainees defeated Moldova's team on Tuesday in Craiova (South Romania), thanks to Torje scoring twice (minutes 12 and 48) and Ochirosii scoring once (minute 15). 
8.US Open Andrei Pavel, eliminated in the first tour/ Romania has only one competitor left Andrei Pavel left the last Grand Slem of his career after the first tour. The Romanian was defeated on Wednesday at US Open by Robby Ginepri, score 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, 6-0. Therefore, Romania's single left competitor in US Open is currently Sorana Cirstea. Pavel is still bound to play another match in doubles, next to Horia Tecau in the men's competition, but also alongside Monica Niculescu in the mix double.
9.US Open / Seven Romanians in the second day of the competition Victor Hanescu, Edina Gallovits, Raluca Olaru and Alexandra Dulgheru were not very lucky in the first US Open Grand Slem day. Seven Romanians are competing for to qualifying for the second US Open round: Sorana Cirstea (favourite no. 24), Monica Niculescu, Victor Crivoi and two double pairs: Horia Tecau/Andrei Pavel and Victor Hanescu/Gabriel Trifu.
10.TAS decision: Adrian Mutu will pay 17 million euros to Chelsea The Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) in Lausanne did not rule out in favour of Romanian international football player Adrian Mutu, ex-Chelsea, in his case against London football club Chelsea. He will now have to pay the club 17,173,990 euros for breeching the contract. 
11.TAS will rule out the verdict in the Adrian Mutu - Chelsea case Romanian international football player Adrian Mutu, ex-Chelsea, will find out on Friday the result in the case of the memorandum submitted with the Sport Referee Tribunal (TAS) in Lausanne regarding FIFA's decision to compel him to pay over 17 million euros to Chelsea football club in London.
12.WTA/ Raluca Olaru qualified in Marseille’s quarter final Romanian tennis player Raluca Olaru qualified for the quarter final in Marseille’s competition. The Romanian player won on Thursday against Spanish Silvia Soler-Espinosa, score 6-2, 6-2. Next, she will meet Italian Tathiana Garbin. 
13.Chess/ World no.5 Teimour Radjabov takes part in the King’s Tour in Sibiu Six of the world's best chess players are competing in the King's Tour third edition. The competition is hosted this year from May 13 to 25 in Bazna, Sibiu (Transilvania) and will reach level XX - Medium Elo: 2729 - the most valuable chess competition Romania has ever hosted.
