2.IMF: Excellent economic evolution in Romania this year The head of an International Monetary Fund mission to Bucharest has said Romania had an excellent economic evolution this year. During talks with Romanian PM Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, the IMF official noted the effects of the fiscal policies promoted by the government, the slow growth of administered prices and the salary policies, according to a government press release.
3.Government to discuss 2007 state budget in Friday session The Romanian Government will approve the draft state budget for 2007 in a session on Friday, Finance minister Sebastian Vladescu announced Monday night. He said the leaders of the main parties in the governing coalition, the Liberals and Democrats, have agreed to boost the funds for education and health most next year, to 5% and 4% of the GDP respectively.
4.Romanian industrial production up 7.2% in Jan-Aug 2006 The value of Romanian industrial production grew 7.2% in January-August this year compared to the same period in 2005, despite a 0.7% fall in August compared to the previous month, caused by mass leaves, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Institute - INS.
5.Liberal Party expels top member A branch of the National Liberal Party - a senior member of the governing coalition in Bucharest - decided to expel top official Theodor Stolojan on Tuesday, days before he and a fellow Liberal were to present a program for the reform of the less and less popular political group. Stolojan told HotNews.ro today that his expulsion was done at the pressure of a “camarilla” led by incumbent PM and Liberal Party leader Calin Popescu Tariceanu, seconded by two other top members of the group.
6.Moody's improves ratings for Romanian banks The Moody’s Investors Service rating agency announced on Tuesday that it has improved its ratings for three Romanian banks - the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), BRD-Groupe Societe Generale and Raiffeisen Bank - for foreign currency deposits. Thus, its ratings for the three banks’ long term credits were set at Baa3 and at Prime-3 for short term credits with a stable perspective, an agency press release says.
7.Romanian tried to bribe British vice-consul to Bucharest, but failed A Romanian woman has tried to bribe the vice-consul of the British Embassy to Bucharest with 100 pounds, hoping to obtain a visa to enter Britain, but failed, the Bucharest Police announced on Tuesday. It announced the Bucharest citizen, aged 31, passed the 100 pounds to the vice-consul along with her passport and other documents while preparing for the visa interview.
8.A historic first: IMF lauds Romania An International Monetary Fund delegation to Bucharest announced its first forecasts on Romania’s inflation and current account deficit on Tuesday. IMF mission leader Emmanuel van der Mensbrugghe said that for 2006 IMF expects a 5.7% inflation rate and a current account deficit of 10.5% of the GDP.

16.“Taina” Holografului Cel mai nou album al trupei Holograf se lanseaza oficial astazi pe piata muzicala din Romania. Turneul de promovare al noului material ii va aduce pe baieti la Cluj pe 25 octombrie.
17.“Revelatour” la Cluj Fanii clujeni ai Voltaj au sarbatorit duminica seara alaturi de trupa lor preferata, pe cele mai noi ritmuri aduse in scena de baieti. O mare de oameni a umplut platoul Salii Sporturilor “Horia Demian” din Cluj-Napoca, pentru a asculta cele mai proaspete piese semnate de Voltaj.
18.Directia Vamala Cluj, pe linie moarta Directia Regionala Vamala Cluj este amenintata cu desfiintarea, ca urmare a unei strategii guvernamentale, referitoare la reducerea numarului de regionale la nivel national. In conditiile desfiintarii Directiei Vamale, Clujul ar urma sa apartina de regionalele Oradea sau Arad.
