1.What the newspapers say: May 26, 2006 It’s all about who forgets or recalls what in today’s newspapers in Romania, doing their best to deliver their some variations to their readers in a period when the bird flu crisis is sucking most public attention. 2."Dracula's Castle" returned to royal owners of old The Bran Castle in Central Romania, the fortress the legend says belonged to Dracula but where the real, Middle Age Wallachian leader thought to be Dracula was once imprisoned was returned to its old owners, the Habsburg family, on Friday. The retrocession process gives the castle to Dominic von Habsburg, a US architect and son of Princess Ileana of Romania.
3.Tractorul negotiations suspended The Romanian Authority for State Assets Recovery – AVAS announced it suspended the negotiations for the privatization of the Tractorul Brasov factory on Friday, because clauses in the privatization contract were not agreed with by the potential buyer, Indian company Mahindra&Mahindra.

7.Extra measures to prevent and fight bird flu The task force fighting bird flu reunited on Friday under the helm of PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu and decided to form ten mixed teams to carry out check outs in three most affected counties Brasov, Prahova and Bacau. Filters have been installed on roads in order to prevent illegal poultry transport.
8.Former PM accused of receiving 1 bln Lei bribe A former governmental counsellor filed a complaint with the National Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office against former PM Adrian Nastase who had received a 1 billion lei bribe in exchange of a governmental post. The news channel Realitatea TV managed to obtain the declaration submitted by former counsellor Fanel Pavalache to the General Prosecutor’s Office.
9.Failed boycott by stock investors The Romanian Stocks recorded a rising trend on Friday despite a strike by a group of investors protesting against the way Romanian authorities deal with the capital market. One of the protesters Daniel Iancu said for Hotnews that the strike was a success though, as authorities proposed a draft law containing some amendments to the delisting law the second day after the protest had been announced to take place.
