They also focus on shady deals around the Romanian presidency, while from Brussels the media receives signs the European Commission favors Justice minister Monica Macovei as a future commissioner.
2.Hungary, Slovakia dismiss intelligence report on bird flu Top vets in Hungary and Slovakia have dismissed a recent Romanian intelligence report that poultry imported by Romania from the two countries was affected by the bird flu virus. The heads of the veterinary authorities in Budapest and Bratislava said in Paris on Tuesday that the virus could not have been “exported” to Romania because their countries have a well established bird flu monitoring system, according to the Romania public radio.
3.Romania’s first retail power center to open in Bucharest in 2007 The Romanian retail market will develop one step further starting September 2007 with the opening of the first retail power center in the country. The Kaufland Power Center will be built in the District 3 of the Romanian capital Bucharest, according to a press release.
4.Romanian Intelligence Service reveals bird flu report A report by the Romanian Intelligence Service – SRI that was published today does not exclude the possibility that the latest bird flu outbreak in Central Romania in May this year might have been sparked by poultry imports. Is says the chicken farm in Codlea, Brasov county imported thousands of tons of poultry infected with the bird flu virus and then sold them across the country.
5.Latest toll: 44 bird flu hotbeds across Romania Fourty-four bird flu hotbeds were confirmed in Romania by Tuesday afternoon as 26 another supected cases have been identified across the country, according to Agriculture minister Gheorghe Flutur. Meanwhile, circulation was allowed to restart in two Bucharest area previously placed in bird flu quarantine.
6.Romanian current account deficit reaches 1.5 billion euro Romania’s current account deficit rose to 1.56 billion euro in the first three months of 2006, up 59.6% compared to the similar period in 2005, according the Romanian National Bank – BNR. The rise was caused by a higher trade balance deficit. Meanwhile, the medium and long-term foreign debt rose 0.7% to 24.7 billion euro by March 31 this year, compared to December 31, 2005.

8.50, 000 companies eyed for arrears to Health Fund The head of the Authority for State Assets Recovery (AVAS) has issued an ultimatum to over 50,000 companies that have not yet paid their contribution to the National Social Health Insurance Fund. The “list of shame” comprises some of the most thriving companies in Romania such as BancPost, Alpha Bank, Ion Tiriac Asigurari, Tofan Grup, says AVAS head Razvan Orasanu.
9.Deputies voted for sale of 5% of Saving House stock to employees The House of Deputies endorsed an ordinance that entailed the sale of 5 percent of the Romanian Saving House stocks to the employees on Tuesday. The draft law establishes the patrimony of the institution and a commission to deal with the privatization process, but covers also issues such as the dismissal of the employees and the compensatory salaries.
10.French Gov adopts draft law for Romania, Bulgaria’s accession to EU France’s Council of ministers adopted the draft law regarding the endorsement of the Accession Treaty of Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to the EU, a press release of the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry shows. The endorsement procedures entail the debate of the draft law by the two houses of the Parliament, the National Assembly and the Senate.
11.EC fall report on Romania and Bulgaria might come out in September Romania will make efforts to obtain the European Commission’s report earlier in the fall in order to allow more time for the remaining EU member states to ratify the Accession Treaty before the end of 2006 so that it can join in on January 1, 2007.

Grigore Popescu considera ca in acest fel, sistemul de colectare ar fi mult mai eficient.
16.Bere Balea Trei Stejari isi face hotel Numarul hotelurilor in constructie sau a caror constructie urmeaza sa inceapa este tot mai mare. Din a doua categorie face parte si hotelul pe care cei de la Bere Balea Trei Stejari intentioneaza sa il contruiasca pe strada Fabricii, cu acces principal din strada Serbota.
17.Politica blonda a matusii Norica Pornind de la declaratia Noricai Nicolai, senator PNL de Cluj, care a apreciat ca “politica este o blonda”, am incercat sa aflam care este pozitia demnitarilor clujeni care “au contact” zilnic cu aceasta realitate platinata.
