4.Danube floods: two new villages evacuated The situation remains critical in the Southern Romanian county of Dolj, most affected by Danube floods over the past several weeks. Two new villages, Carna and Macesu de Jos, have been evacuated as water took over dozens of households in the area and blocked one road despite encouraging signals from state authorities that Danube flow levels were receding.
5.Rapid beats Steaua in Romanian championship Bucharest football club Rapid beat Steaua on rival turf in the Romanian championship Sunday night. Rapid scored two goals and received none against a thoroughly dominated Steaua, which three days before was ousted from the UEFA Cup by Middlesbrough and lost its chance to go to the European finals. Steaua had beaten Rapid in the UEFA quarterfinals after two balanced games: 1-1 and 0-0.
6.Report: Flat tax led to higher budget incomes in Romania The fiscal reforms of 2005 that included the introduction of the flat tax did not produce a hole in the state budget as many have speculated, according to a report published Monday by a Romanian NGO, the Romanian Academic Society - SAR. The report says those very reforms may lead to higher public incomes both in absolute figures and by GDP percentage.

Mehdi Awdi explained that there was a connection between the current claimant of the house and the author of the article in the magazine Saptamana Financiara.
11.Realitatea TV owner launches business TV station The Money Channel, the first business TV station in Romania, was officially launched on Monday. The channel is part of the media group run by controversial businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu who recently revealed his ownership of the news TV channel "Realitatea." The Money Channel will cover the main financial events of the day, and will provide analyses of the business environment trends.
12.Bulgarian authorities believe Romania’s progress will boost Sofia’s efforts The Bulgarian minister for European Affairs, Meglena Kuneva, congratulated Romania for the progress made so far, in particular regarding Justice and Home Affairs and expressed her confidence that Romania’s good results will boost the Sofia authorities to increase efforts in order to meet EU conditions, according to the press agency Focus.
13.De la 1 mai se scumpeste benzina Incepand de luni, benzinarii particulari vor scumpi carburantii cu sume cuprinse intre 550 si 700 de lei vechi pe litru. Aceasta masura vine dupa ce Petrom a decis, vineri, sa majoreze pretul benzinei si al motorinei, transmit agentiile de presa. Cresterea preturilor la carburanti este motivata de faptul ca, pe plan international, barilul de petrol a inregistrat niveluri record de peste 70 de dolari barilul.

18.BBC prezinta harta circulatiei fortei de munca in UE Luni - pe 1 mai - Uniunea Europeana marcheaza a doua aniversare a extinderii sale istorice spre est. In aceeasi zi expira termenul pana la care cele 15 membre vechi ale Uniunii urmau sa decida daca vor ridica, sau nu, restrictiile impuse noilor membri in ce priveste piata muncii.
