2.Deputies oppose House speaker’s residence search Romanian deputies rejected on Tuesday a request to search House speaker Adrian Nastase's home in an anti-graft case related to how he purchased a block of flats in Bucharest. They voted 163 to 131 against the request, submitted in Parliament by Justice minister Monica Macovei on behalf of anti-corruption prosecutors.
3.Gas pipeline to double Constanta oil pipeline Authorities in five European countries have finally reached a major agreement on building an oil pipeline linking the Romanian Black Sea port of Constanta with the Italian port of Trieste, Italian minister Claudio Scajola announced. He said a memorandum would be signed in this regard later this month – but the big news is still to come. A natural gas pipeline will be built, this time from Italy to Romania, according to the same minister.
4.Car-maker Dacia’s turnover reached 1.2 bln euro in 2005 Romanian car-maker Dacia doubled its revenues in 2005 compared to the year before, reaching a business figure of 1.2 billion euro with net financial results of 57 million euro.
5.Romania's tourism potential "no 4" worldwide The World Travel and Tourism Council has published its Top Ten of countries with the highest pace of growth in tourism development. For the third consecutive year, Montenegro tops the list, while Romania comes fourth with a tourism development potential of 8% in 2007-2016.
6.Competition Council investigates state assistance to Lottery The Romanian Competition Council is investigating the financial support received by the Romanian Lottery National Company, at the center of a huge scandal in which deputy PM George Copos and Lottery head Nicolae Cristea are charged with various abuses.
7.Generali Insurances forecasts 20% business increase in Romania The Italian insurance company Generali, third biggest insurer on the European market, announced intentions to increase profits with 50 per cent within 2006-2008, compared to last year’s profit of 2.9 bln euro, according to the new strategy launched on Monday. For the Romanian market the company forecasts an annual business growth of 20 per cent until 2008.

9.Interamerican Romania boasts 22.34 mln RON revenues from life insurances The insurance company Interamerican Romania reported a 18 per cent increase in 2005 in the number of life insurances compared to the previous year, boasting revenues of 22.34 mln RON coming from the life insurance segment and 22.42 mln RON from the general insurance segment, writes an Interamerican press release on Tuesday.
10.Levy on Rompetrol Refinery shares The Romanian General Prosecutor’s Office set levy on 5.4 bln shares belonging to the Rompetrol Refinery Company, part of Rompetrol group, the Bucharest Stock Exchange announced on Tuesday. Rompetrol was considering to challenge this decision in court as the prosecutors did not inform the company about the measure or the reasons that triggered the levy.
11.American military bases in Romania for at least ten years The agreement on the US military bases in Romania signed between the authorities of the two NATO states entails the presence of the American troops on Romanian territory for at least ten year, if none of the signatories demands for the cease. It also mentions training and residence camps, equipment and security areas, but fails to clarify the jurisdiction under which the US military troops are placed while in Romania in case of any wrongdoing.

In urma acestui rezultat procurorii anticoruptie pot formula o alta cerere de perchezitie numai daca aceasta are alte motive. 15.Scrisoare deschisa privind imbunatatirea si simplificarea procesului de redobandire a cetateniei romane In 20 ianuarie 2005 autoritatile romane au ratificat Conventa Europena a Consiliului Europei privind Cetatenia (intrata in vigoare in 01 mai 2005). Prevederile tratatului mentionat mai sus sunt incalcate in mod flagrant odata cu respingerea de catre premierul Tariceanu a initiativei de imbunatatire a procesului de acordare a cetateniei pentru romanii din Basarabia si Bucovina de Nord.
