“O acuzatie absurda si lipsita de sens a fost adusa impotriva catorva iranieni din America si a fost formulata ca motiv pentru a prezenta Republica Islamica drept un sustinator al terorismului”, a spus Khameini intr-un discurs sustinut in provincia vestica Kermanshah. “Nu a functionat si nu va functiona”, a adaugat liderul iranian.
Purtatorul de cuvant al Ministerului de Externe a fost citat de televiziunea iraniana Press TV spunand ca acuzatiile formulate de SUA sunt “false si lipsite de baza”. “Este un spectacol de comedie fabricat de America”, a declarat acesta, adaugand ca relatia Iranului cu Arabia Saudita este bazata pe “respect reciproc” si nu poate fi afectata prin “fabricarea unor asemenea afirmatii fara baza”.
Amintim ca, marti, oficiali americani au anuntat ca au dejucat un complot de asasinare a ambasadorului saudit la Washington, Adel al-Jubeir, de catre doi barbati ce ar avea legaturi cu serviciile de informatii iraniene. Administratia de la Washington a declarat ca ambasadorul saudit, care este un apropiat al regelui Abdullah, "nu s-a aflat niciun moment in pericol". Iranul a negat acuzatiile aduse de oficialii americani, considerandu-le "fabricate", "vulgare" si "motivate politic".
Miercuri, oficiali americani au declarat ca "e foarte probabil" ca liderul suprem iranian, ayatolahul Ali Khamenei, si seful fortelor Quds "sa fi stiut" de complot iar vicepresedintele american Joe Biden a spus ca "Iranul va plati pretul" pentru complotul impotriva lui Adel al-Jubeir. In decursul zilei de joi Statele Unite au fost in contact direct cu Iranul pentru discutii referitoare la acuzatiile privind implicarea guvernul iranian in presupusul complot ce viza asasinarea ambasadorului saudit la Washington. Administratia americana nu a furnizat alte informatii cu privire la derularea discutiilor.
